With 96 votes in favor, the legislators aimed to guarantee the rights of vulnerable populations in the territories hit by the intense rains last week.
Lawmakers also asked the Executive to order urgent measures to be taken by the institutions to assist the affected and vulnerable populations in the face of the devastation caused by the climatic event.
On Wednesday, the members of the Ecuadorian Parliament asked President Noboa to declare a state of emergency for agriculture and aquaculture in several regions and provinces affected by the rainy season, known here as winter.
The parliamentarians also requested to declare a state of emergency in Los Ríos, Guayas, Esmeraldas, Manabí, Santa Elena, Bolívar, Santo Domingo, Cañar, and Azuay provinces due to the severe effects of the winter season.
They urged the Ministries of Finance, Agriculture, Production, Transportation, and Health to allocate economic resources, activate contingency plans, conduct actions to rehabilitate road infrastructure, and initiate control plans for dengue and malaria.
