Buenos Aires, Feb 28 (Prensa Latina) Argentinian members of the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP) demanded on Wednesday the delivery of food to soup kitchens that serve vulnerable people.

In spite of a police raid, the members of that group held a National Strike for the Food Emergency in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Human Capital, in this city, and criticized an adjustment plan promoted by the Government, as well as the lack of support to those facilities.

Demonstrators carried signs with messages such as: In the end the caste are the children; If there is no bread for the people, there will be no peace for the Government; Food now; and Chau Pettovello (Sandra, head of that State Ministry).

“We will not give up until the pots are full again! We demand public policies to address the emergency,” the UTEP underscored in a statement. It also denounced “the hunger of millions of families left with empty dishes.”

On recent weeks, the members of this group have rioted several times to demand assistance from the Executive to the neighborhoods most affected by the socioeconomic crisis.

In addition, they assured that over 40,000 soup kitchens had been left without resources after the arrival of Javier Milei to the Presidency.
