“By rule of law, the effects of the resolution we are challenging should be suspended”, the leader of the defense team of the former legislator for the opposition National Encounter Party declared, after filing this Tuesday the appeal before the highest court, Última Hora newspaper reported. The action of unconstitutionality submitted by the lawyer to the CSJ argues that the suspension promoted on February 14 by official parliamentarians in the Senate “was irregular, and the acts against the legal order are null and void, for which reason González has to recover her seat”.

According to the lawyer, “the manner in which she was removed from office in the Senate affected legal assets, pillars and foundations of the rule of law and constitutional democracy”.

The document presented before the Court underlines the violation of the rules of procedure of the Upper House in the case of the former senator, “and the gross violation of elementary guarantees, starting with the fact that she was not even notified of the accusation”.
