According to spokeswoman Mao Ning, the Government’s special representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, will carry out this tour starting March 2nd as part of his second round of itinerant diplomacy, aimed at de-escalating the crisis in Ukraine and restoring peace.
Mao reiterated the call to all parties to “build consensus and conditions to ease tensions, promoting a ceasefire and ending hostilities.” She also ratified Beijing’s willingness to continue playing a constructive role in the political solution of this conflict. “I think one of the important lessons that the Ukraine crisis has taught us is that bloc confrontation cannot bring security,” Mao said this week.
During the 60th Munich Security Conference, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi ratified support for peace talks on Ukraine and reiterated respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, highlighting the call of Chinese President Xi Jinping not to use nuclear weapons and not to wage wars with this type of weapons.
“The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries must be respected, the purposes and principles of the UN Charter must be respected, the legitimate security concerns of all countries must be taken seriously and all efforts leading to a peaceful solution to the crisis must be supported,” the Foreign Minister emphasized.
