During a meeting at the Great Hall of the People, the Chinese president emphasized mutual support, “effective cooperation” in economic and social development, and close coordination in international affairs.
Xi referred to the “deep friendship” between the two nations and expressed his desire that this visit would give a comprehensive and profound boost to bilateral relations. As part of his state visit agenda, Bio will also meet separately with other Chinese authorities, including Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. Shortly before meeting with Xi, the Sierra Leonean president laid a wreath at the Monument to the Heroes of the Chinese People at Tiananmen Square.
On Tuesday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed that the two countries have enjoyed a traditional friendship since diplomatic ties were established more than 50 years ago.
