In addition to the region’s heads of Government, representatives from Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and North America attended the conclave to expand contacts with the Caribbean and explore the potential for cooperation.
Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expects to attend the closing session this Wednesday and hold working meetings with his Guyanese counterpart, Irfaan Ali, and Suriname’s Chan Santokhi to discuss bilateral and trilateral interests.
The meeting will conclude with a press briefing where the leaders are expected to present the results and consensus reached during the event.
The 46th Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government began on Sunday, February 25, focused on deepening regional integration and better promoting the Caribbean’s interests in the international arena.
These forums determine the political guidelines of the group, reach treaties of interest, and establish relations with other international organizations and countries of the world.
