‘We ask you, journalist friends, to help us show the true, dramatic and sad situation in Palestine to the Brazilian public opinion’, the diplomat requested before reporters at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission in Brasilia.
He considered that it would be ‘an act of solidarity on your part and a courageous act of professionalism’.
Alzeben summoned the press for a conversation on the Middle East conflict and in support of Palestine.
The meeting was attended by accredited ambassadors from Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria and the League of Arab States, which represents the 22 countries of the region.
After the press conference, the Palestinian ambassador affirmed to Agencia Brasil and Radio Nacional that the Brazilian ‘mainstream media’ still does not show exactly what is happening in Gaza. He said that ‘every word more about the truth of what is happening in Gaza is one less bullet’.
He warned that Gaza is threatened with extinction and the ‘specter of death’ hovers over the tiny piece of land.
For the diplomat, all the actions committed by Israel show that it is a genocide that to date records more than 30,000 Palestinians dead, more than half of them women and children.
All the elements of the acts on the ground show the existence of genocide, premeditated acts and practiced in series’, emphasized Alzeben, who also praised the position of the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to denounce Tel Aviv aggressions in Gaza.
