The Communist Party of the Russian Federation and other political, academic, social and friendship organizations that support the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) held seminars about the life and work of the eminent leader.

Kim Jong Il was born on February 16, 1941, a date that in his country was consecrated as the Day of the Light Star in recognition of his invaluable contributions to national independence and sovereignty.

Like in other countries, political and cultural events were organized in Russia to commemorate the event.

Congratulatory messages were also sent to Kim Jong Ul, general secretary of the WPK and chairman of the State Affairs Commission, in which the progress of socialist construction in the DPRK was underscored.
