Gangs in Haiti go beyond limits and attack against religious

haitian-police-search-for-over-3000-inmates-who-escaped-from-jail
Port-au-Prince, Feb 27 (Prensa Latina) Religious are also in the sights of gangs in Haiti, where they have already perpetrated attacks and kidnappings against this social segment, generating more panic among the population of Haiti.

The Haitian National Police (HNP) still has no news about the six members of the Congregation of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart who were kidnapped by an unknown armed group.

The bandits kidnapped the Catholic religious in front of the main barrier of the College Jean XXIII, when they were about to enter the premises where they work. One of them is the director of the school.

Since Friday there has been a call to pray for their release without harm to their physical integrity.

Likewise, the HNP does not know the whereabouts of the perpetrators of an explosive attack against the vice president of the Bishops’ Conference, Pierre André Dumas.

No gang claimed responsibility for the attack on the prelate of Anse-à-Veau Miragoâne, who was staying in a house in Port-au-Prince on February 18.

Dumas – seriously wounded but stable – is an outspoken critic of the criminal gangs operating in Haiti, especially the crime of kidnapping, which he describes as an inhumane and despicable practice.
