“I see that we are beginning to reach our goals of achieving better results in that field,” the PM added in statements to the Guyanese Department of Public Information, on the sidelines of his participation here in the 46th Conference of Heads of Government of the bloc.
The PM considered there is in the region “greater food security, as CARICOM advances in its efforts to meet its goals in many areas.”
The authority attributed those economic advances “to the vision and leadership of the rotating President of CARICOM and Guyana’s Head of State Mohamed Irfaan Ali,” who presided over the business session of the Ordinary Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government at the Marriott Hotel in the capital.
Wheatley insisted, “We know that we can deal with hurricanes, weather disasters, but also that the region can do much better on food security. The potential and the opportunities are there. And, with the leadership of President Irfaan Ali, we are beginning to meet our goals.”
The head of the Road Town Government based his criteria on the potential of the Guyanese leader, author of the lately transformations experienced by Guyana, and reaffirmed that “the British Virgin Islands is enthusiastic about the success and prosperity of this nation.”
The strengthening of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy was the subject of discussions on Monday, the second day of the 46th Conference of Heads of Government of the bloc, which will conclude tomorrow.

Líder de las Islas Vírgenes Británicas elogia avances de la Caricom
Georgetown, 27 feb (Prensa Latina) La Comunidad de Estados del Caribe (Caricom) avanza en muchas áreas, incluida la seguridad alimentaria, declaró el primer ministro de las Islas Vírgenes Británicas, Natalio Wheatley, en una entrevista publicada hoy por un medio local.
“Veo que estamos empezando a alcanzar nuestros objetivos de lograr mejores resultados en ese campo”, añadió el líder insular en declaraciones al Departamento de Información Pública guyanés, al margen de su participación aquí en la XLVI Conferencia de Jefes de Gobierno del bloque.
El mandatario virgenense-británico consideró que existe en la región “una mayor seguridad alimentaria, a medida que la Caricom avanza en sus esfuerzos para lograr sus objetivos en muchas áreas”.
La autoridad caribeña atribuyó esos adelantos económicos “a la visión y liderazgo del presidente rotativo de la Caricom y líder de Guyana, Mohamed Irfaan Ali”, quien presidió en el capitalino hotel Marriott la sesión de negocios de la Reunión Ordinaria de la Conferencia de Jefes de Gobierno.
“Sabemos –insistió Wheatley- que podemos enfrentar huracanes, desastres climáticos, pero también que la región puede hacerlo mucho mejor sobre seguridad alimentaria. El potencial y las oportunidades están ahí. Y, con el liderazgo del presidente Irfaan Ali, empezamos a alcanzar nuestros objetivos”.
El jefe del Gobierno de Road Town basó sus criterios sobre el potencial del mandatario guyanés, autor de las recientes transformaciones experimentadas por Guyana, y ratificó que “las Islas Vírgenes Británicas están entusiasmadas con el éxito y la prosperidad de esta nación”.
El fortalecimiento del Mercado y la Economía Únicos de la Caricom fue tema de debates en la segunda jornada de la XLVI Conferencia de Jefes de Gobierno del bloque, que desarrolla este martes su tercer día de sesiones y concluirá mañana.
