Argentine governors define actions against Milei’s measures

Javier-Milei-constitucion-1
Buenos Aires, Feb 27 (Prensa Latina) Argentine governors are meeting on Tuesday to define joint actions in light of President Javier Milei's measures, including eliminating funds and severe adjustments.

In a press briefing, Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof stated that the meeting will be held after the president’s “unjust and illegal” decrees that threaten national integrity and sovereignty.

Kicillof added that the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) No. 70/2023, signed by Milei in December (which modifies or repeals more than 300 laws), and other presidential decisions affect the entire Argentine people.

The Buenos Aires governor denounced the elimination of the Fiscal Strengthening Fund and announced a lawsuit against the Executive Branch.

We have already exhausted the administrative and dialogical channels. We have instructed the public prosecutor to go to the Supreme Court and, as a precautionary measure, and restore what has been taken from us,” he said.

Kicillof added, “We are in such a severe situation that we have received the support of all political forces. The president is configuring a State that is abandoning its commitments. He is not only oppressing the people but also stealing resources from the provinces.”

He pointed out that the DNU and other decrees cannot remain in force.

“We will not give up defending the interests and rights of our people. We will take all necessary measures and ways so that the province will not suffer any further aggression from this government,” he pointed out.
