At a press conference, the General Secretary of the “Unico Nacional de Trabajadores de la Construcción y Similares” – SUNTRACS union Saul Mendez warned that the new street actions will advance along with other legal actions, such as denouncements to the Attorney General’s Office and the Supreme Court of Justice for those abuses.
Mendez explained that the current Cortizo Administration, and other previous governments, subordinated to the economic and factual power, have aimed at subduing workers, even to make them disappear, to bring them to their knees, but they will never succeed, nor they will be victorious in the new challenge.
Alongside other authorities of SUNTRACS and its body of lawyers, the also former presidential candidate in 2019 denounced that this year the Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation on an alleged money laundering regarding the accounts where the organization’s funds are deposited, coming from the dues and the sweat of workers, he remarked.
The closing of 18 SUNTRACS bank accounts in the state Savings Bank is a political persecution against this workers’ organization, Mendez commented earlier in an interview with Prensa Latina.
