The General Management of Rural Development (DGMR) and the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) are coordinating the visit.
The Cubans are part of a livestock cooperative project in the province of Gamagüey, financed by IFAD, the MGAP said.
A South-South exchange program co-financed by the French Development Aid (AFD) is currently underway.
The Cuban authorities responsible for the project are familiar with Uruguay’s advances in livestock (management, feeding, genetics), rural cooperatives, family agriculture, advances in gender policies in rural areas, and land colonization, the ministry added on its official website.
The purpose is for Cuban livestock farmers to broaden their knowledge and learn from experiences that can be applied in their country.
The Cuban delegation visited farms with productive experiences in rural development.
During their stay, they exchanged with dairy farmers linked to the Agremiación de Tampores del departamento de Canelones, a reference in the area.
