“We reject the permanent campaign of discredit against Cuba that is promoted through social networks and other means from United States, the press release from the Raíces Mambisas Association of Cuban Residents in Peru, noted.
The text was approved at a meeting of Cuban residents here on Saturday, convened by the Embassy of Cuba and attended by leaders of Peru’s Cuba solidarity organizations and parliamentarian Alex Flores, a member of the Peru-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship League, whose president, Silvana Robles, spoke at the rally.
The declaration from the Cuban residents also condemns “the genocidal blockade imposed by the US Government on Cuba for more than 60 years.”
It also demanded “the elimination of Cuba from the unilateral and spurious State Sponsors of Terrorism list” and appreciated the many expressions of solidarity that Caribbean island receives in Peru.
The text also acknowledges the contribution of Cuban resident abroad to the economic and social development of their country, and ratified the association’s will to consolidate the relationship of emigrants with Cuba, which they consider a forum for debate and reflection.
