La Paz, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Dozens of Bolivians from several left-wing forces and Cuban residents in La Paz expressed their repudiation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba on Sunday.

The central Plaza Mayor of San Francisco brought together graduates from the Latin American School of Medicine, members of the Guevarist Movement of Bolivia/ELN, representatives of the Communist Party of Bolivia and activists from the Bolivian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba-La Paz.

“We started these mobilizations in Santa Cruz more than a year ago and by coming to work in La Paz we maintained this solidarity project,” Dr. Edwin Grimaldo, leader of these events said in an interview with Prensa Latina in Plaza de San Francisco.

He explained that the main objective is to demand an end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba and the Caribbean island’s removal from Washington’s unilateral and spurious State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.

“However, on this occasion, we also express our solidarity with the Palestinian people against the massacre committed by Israel in Gaza, and with the Argentine popular sectors, who are protesting against the brutal neoliberalism enforced by their current Government,” he pointed out.

Among the dozens of self-convened activists was Dr. Nila Heredia, former Minister of Health and former president of the Bolivian Truth Commission.

Heredia indicated that the unity of all Latin Americans is fundamental at this time, since the same empire that blocks and dedicates millions of dollars to defame Cuba and its Revolution is the one that promotes genocide in Palestine and now wants to transform Argentina into another base of the Pentagon’s Southern Command.

Jorge Barrón, coordinator of the Bolivian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in La Paz, emphasized that the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States has maintained against Cuba for 62 years aims to make the Cuban people surrender by hunger and desperation.

He recalled that the Donald Trump administration approved 243 criminal measures, which incumbent US President Joseph Biden maintains.

Barrón called to demand that Cuba be removed “now” from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
