Cuban ambassador praises Vietnam-Cuba military relations

dos-corazones-2
Hanoi, Feb 23 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Hernández Guillén on Friday underlined the essential nature of military relations between the two countries, which are the basis of our common history.

At a meeting with the filmmakers of the documentary series Two Hearts One Heartbeat, whose first three episodes have already been completed, the diplomat pointed out that it shows in the fullest and deepest sense the cultivation of a friendship based on the common and uncompromising goal of achieving independence at any cost.

He stressed that the film is an important contribution to the new generations’ knowledge about the special and exemplary relations between Vietnam and Cuba, based on solidarity, cooperation and brotherhood.

Hernandez Guillen also noted the historical rigor of the series, which not only has a high artistic value but also testimonial one, and praised the production team’s high professionalism, seriousness and commitment, and belonging to the Center for Military Radio and Television of the Ministry of Defense (QPVN, according to its acronym in Vietnamese).

In the presence of the second chief of the General Political Directorate of that Department, Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, and the QPVN director, Major General Ngueyn Kim Ton, among other high-ranking officers, the ambassador said that this meeting took place hours before the commemoration in Cuba of the 129th anniversary of the resumption of the independence struggle.

He recalled that the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Cuba Military Cooperation Treaty will be commemorated in 2024, and stressed the strengthening of relations between the armed forces of these two relatively small countries, but with great traditions of struggle and where the largest army is the people themselves.

As a result of collaboration between the Ministries of Defense of Vietnam and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, the first episode of Two Hearts One Heartbeat was shot in 2020 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.

That same year, the documentary was granted the National Prize for Foreign Information, which is held annually in Vietnam.

During their latest visit to Cuba in April 2023, the QPVN production team met with President Miguel Díaz-Canel who, alluding to the title of the documentary, affirmed, ‘This is how we always feel with our Vietnamese brothers.’
