According to the presidency of the Council of Ministers, the documents were signed by the Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, and the Iraqi Minister of Commerce, Atheer Daoud Salman Al-Ghurairi.
The ceremony took place after the closing of the meetings of the twelfth session of the Syrian-Iraqi Joint Commission, which was held in Baghdad.
The Syrian Minister expressed in a press conference with his Iraqi counterpart the desire of the Syrian government to advance bilateral cooperation and achieve a quantitative and qualitative leap with respect to the exchange of products. “We have already witnessed a relative improvement in the level of commercial exchange and we expect more than that,” he reaffirmed.
Al-Khalil stated that Syria and Iraq are interested in overcoming all barriers to ease the flow of products, especially in the field of industry, agriculture and trade between the two countries.
The Iraqi Minister of Commerce urged investors from Iraq and Syria to establish economic development projects in all fields.
