The number of injured people was five more than those reported the day before by Major General Carlos Pérez Ampueda, Vice-Minister for Risk Management and Civil Protection.
The high command reported at 19:49 local time yesterday the rescue of 11 injured persons and “16 located without vital signs”, all of them, he said, were taken to the Command and Control Post located in the town of La Paragua.
He indicated that tents for pre-hospital care and autopsy rooms with forensic medicine experts have been set up in that community.
Throughout Wednesday and Thursday, search and rescue operations continue in the collapsed mine in the municipality of Angostura, in the aforementioned state, where the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force was activated, Pérez Ampueda declared.
Authorities of the National Risk Management System, Citizen Security agencies, and members of the Operational Zone of Integral Defense are working at the site.
The Secretary of Citizen Security in Bolivar, Edgar Colina, revealed in a first report the figure of 16 dead and 16 injured and indicated that the latter are being transferred by helicopter to the hospital of Ciudad Bolivar, and others to Ciudad Guayana.
