According to the National Meteorological Center, average daily temperatures in most southern areas of China will drop between 6 and 12 degrees Celsius.
Due to the impact of the cold snap, in parts of Guizhou, Hunan, Guangxi and Jiangxi the numbers could go lower than 20 degrees Celsius. As part of the warning, authorities urged relevant departments to do a good job of prevention and take measures to protect livestock, poultry, tropical and subtropical fruits, and aquatic products and crops.
Heavy snowfall and rainfall may damage current agricultural production, China Daily reports.
For this reason, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued an emergency notice to deploy prevention and response work to minimize disaster losses.
