In a joint communiqué, the “Central de Trabajadores” (CTA) (Workers’Union), the “CTA-Autonoma” (Autonomous CTA), the “Movimiento Productivo 25 de Mayo” (Productive Movement May 25), the “Mesa Agroalimentaria Argentina” (Argentinian Agricultural Nurturing Table) and the “Fundacion Interactiva para Promover la Cultura del Agua” (Interactive Foundation to Boost Water Culture) expressed their disagreement with the Executive’s measures and warned of their impact on citizens.

Milei pursues a policy in alliance with concentrated power groups, which impoverishes the vast majority of the population every day, the text points out. Likewise, it accuses the Government of attempting against the correct holding of the Wage Council, of preventing the presence of representatives of small and medium-sized companies in proportion to the number of jobs they provide and of fixing the minimum payment of a worker at 180,000 Argentinian pesos (around USD$ 225). That amount represents one third of the basic food basket, the document clarifies.

The incessant raises in public utility rates, the violent attrition of subsidies and the galloping inflation, which is estimated at 68% for the first quarter, are reflected in the upsurge of social and union conflicts, the document grants.

All this is detrimental to more and more sectors in their access to decent housing, health, education and food as basic human rights. Direct action measures will be taken in the coming days by bankers, railway workers, teachers, social and state movements, it adds.

It further rejects attempts to conduct dollarization in Argentina, and announces meetings with legislators on a decree of necessity and urgency signed by the president to deregulate the economy, carry out labor reform and privatize public companies, among other provisions.
