The latest assault was on Rémy Cyncé, who went with his wife and son to make a transaction at a commercial bank in Cité Christophienne. On their return, bandits on motorcycles opened fire on the fatal victim, who was only able to defuse his pistol and kill one of his assailants. His wife was injured in her hand and his son escaped unharmed, Le Facteur reported.

The agent – who was murdered on Monday – belonged to the Departmental Service of the Judicial Police of the North.

Meanwhile, the Haitian National Police is investigating into two previous armed attacks on its agents by criminal gangs.

An HNP vehicle was shot at while on patrol in the Croix des Bouquets area. In the incident – which occurred on Sunday – a member of the team, whose name was not disclosed due to security concerns, was wounded in the shoulder.

The HNP is also on the trail of the perpetrators of a February 14 attack on a SWAT Team agent, who was gunned down in Port-au-Prince.

The gangsters, whose names are unknown at the moment, opened fire on Lector Roobens, a member of the 31st promotion of this specialized corps.

Roobens had been shot eight times and died in the hospital where he was rushed, the HNP’s union referred.
