The mayor of the commune of Villa Alemana, Javiera Toledo, said that in that place the flames affected 107 houses and 39 of them were totally destroyed.
This Monday 12 families of the place were benefited with a temporary home, until the definitive reconstruction works begin.
Regarding the rest of the victims, Toledo said that the process will be different because they are not owners of the lots where they had built their homes, or they do not have a power of attorney issued by the owners.
To solve these cases, the government proposed as alternatives to deliver a temporary bonus for the payment of rents or accommodation in a hotel, the latter intended in particular for pregnant women or elderly people.
According to the mayor, providing a solution to these families, many of whom are currently housed in schools, will enable the schools to be ready for the start of the school year in the first week of March. Javiera Toledo also made a call to people, companies or institutions to make efforts in doses because this, she said, is not going to be finished next week, nor in the following weeks.
