“Latin American countries are our great friends in the initiative of developing phygital sports, where digital and physical are merged, since the first international member to contact us to be present at the event was the Brazilian phygital soccer team,” the head highlighted at a press conference.

Ershov told News Agency Prensa Latina about the advantages of joining the Russian experience with that of Latin America, noting that the history of good results in their traditional sports is now being taken to that model with satisfactory results.

Latin American athletes are really phygital players because, for example, Brazilians are born with the ball and play on any type of field, and now they all play on the simulator and are winners by combining those formats, the authority said.

The leader further added that teams from Argentina, Uruguay and Chile will attend official competitions. Those four countries will participate in the 16 soccer games and four basketball games.

“We have also designed additional games for countries that did not arrive on time for registration, such as Colombia and Cuba, a nation that is arriving with a large delegation, and will attend under the same conditions as the other territories,” Ershon pointed out.

The competition format of the first Russia 2024 Future Games involves the use of the latest advances in the field of e-sports, robotics, virtual and augmented reality, information technologies and artificial intelligence.
