The funding will contribute to the work of the Chilean Red Cross in first aid, psychosocial support and restoring family links.
It will also be used to distribute drinking water and cover immediate needs for food or supplies to repair homes.
The humanitarian assistance will benefit some 1,900 families, especially those who suffered material losses, forced displacement and other direct impacts as a result of the emergency in Viña del Mar and Quilpué.
The donation is part of the EU’s global contribution to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ Disaster Response Emergency Fund.
