Cuba thanks Africa for its support against US blockade

Havana, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Monday expressed gratitude to Africa for its permanent support against the blockade that the United States has imposed on Cuba for more than six decades.

On his X profile, the head of Cuban diplomacy noted that that the 37th African Union Summit, held in Ethiopia recently, approved for the fifteenth consecutive time a resolution calling for an end to Washington’s siege.

Rodriguez pointed out that the forum also condemned Cuba’s inclusion on the US State Department’s unilateral State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list, and requested its withdrawal.

Sunday’s text from the African Union, made up of 55 States from that continent, reaffirmed the organization’s full support for the Resolution approved every year at the United Nations General Assembly on this issue.

It also regretted the measures implemented by the US Government since November 9, 2017, to reinforce the blockade, and expressed its deep concern over the extension of its extraterritorial nature.

The document recognized that the White House’s hostile policy is the main obstacle to Cuba’s implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
