According to Agustín Salvia, around 27 million people are facing up such a situation and it is possible that more complex periods may come.
“Structural poverty in Argentina is not a new issue, and it is to be expected that it will worsen, as well as that February will be more complicated”, Salvia detailed in statements to local television channel, while stressing that nearly seven million Argentinians are indigent, that is, 15% of a population of 46 million.
According to the Observatory, poverty in Argentina is at its highest level in the last 22 years, which is due, among other factors, to a “constant inflation process, beginning of an economic recession and the absence of significant salary adjustments”.
It will be very difficult to reduce the percentage in the short term, Salvia pointed out.
