Congolese media reported the participation of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi in the meeting of heads of state and government, where he “demonstrated Rwanda’s involvement in the maintenance of insecurity and the plundering of wealth in eastern Congo”, according to the Presidency of the DRC.
In his speech, he called for the immediate cessation of hostilities by the March 23 Movement (M23), supported by Kigali; the immediate withdrawal of the rebels and the beginning of the cantonment process.
The President remarked that there will be no dialogue until the insurgents withdraw from their positions, and said that he wants peace, but not at any price.
The mini-summit, convened by the Angolan president, João Lourenço, dealt with the return to a constructive and reconciliatory dialogue between the DRC and Rwanda, the cease-fire, the immediate withdrawal of the M23 from the occupied zones and the launching of the process for temporary living quarters for this movement.
