Upon their arrival at Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport, Ruto and Lourenço were welcomed by Ethiopian Minister of Women and Social Affairs Ergoge Tesfaye, while Guelleh was welcomed by Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, the local Foreign Ministry reported.
Ndayishimiye was welcomed by Agriculture Minister Girma Amente.
The heads of State of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa; Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa; Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, as well as Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo and Lethoto’s Prime Minister Sam Matekane, arrived earlier.
They all were warmly welcomed by top Ethiopian government officials.
The theme of the AU Summit is ‘Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa’ and will be held on February 17 and 18.
