The central Havana bookstore Tuxpan hosted the presentation of Mexico in the Gaceta de Cuba, a compendium of texts by authors from both countries compiled by Norberto Codina, and the Mexican edition of the collection of poems Luz Clave, by the dancer and writer Claudia Hernández de Arizpe Valley.

For the Culture and Press Attaché of the Mexican mission, Santiago Ruy Sánchez de Orellana, it is a special honor to present these two works, plus a third one, The spirit of 22. A century of muralism in San Idelfonso, at the Museum of Fine Arts Arts as part of the Book Fair program.

The event that started on Thursday the 15th will continue until February 25 with an abundant display of books of all genres, representations from 45 countries with Brazil as the guest of honor and tribute to the prestigious Cuban intellectuals Isabel Monal and Francisco López Sacha.

“Mexico in the Gazette of Cuba is a co-edition between UNAM and the publishing house of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, which “rescues and pays tribute to the rich intellectual dialogue between the two countries,” Sánchez de Orellana told Prensa Latina.

In addition to being -he emphasized- a tribute to its compiler, Norberto Codina, who was director of the official publication for more than 30 years.

In introductory words, the Mexican ambassador Miguel Díaz Reynoso said the Cuban Gazette has been the passport between the two sister nations that has served to stay up to date on events on the island. “It is the bridge for coming and going. Therefore, it is a deserved tribute to the cultural relationship between Cuba and Mexico.” The second proposal, Luz Clave, contains how its author, Valle Arizpe, perceives dance through the prism of poetry, commented Sánchez de Orellana.

For this presentation, which was made by Socorro Venegas, general director of Publications and Editorial Development at UNAM, the Mexican Embassy coordinated the performance of the Retazos Dance-Theater Company, whose director, Isabel Bustos, conceived a special choreography for the occasion.

“It is a performance that shows the visionary, imaginative fusion of the poems from the book through the movements of dance,” Bustos explained to Prensa Latina.

The Hemicycle of the Universal Art Building of the Museum of Fine Arts will host on Saturday the 17th the third Mexican contribution to the Book Fair, The spirit of 22. A century of muralism in San Idelfonso, by Doctor Dafne Cruz, who will make the presentation together to Margarita González and Socorro Venegas.
