The head of State began his tour at the Gámica Seed Farm, a Basic Business Unit attached to Urban Agriculture that closed 2023 with losses.
As reported by the Presidency of Cuba on its X account, the entity currently requested several hectares of land to produce food, especially rice for the municipality.
It is also waiting for a certification of the solar panels, which has prevented them from starting up the irrigation system for the crops.
Díaz-Canel urged the farm employees to work harder, and highlighted the importance of the land for food production.
The president also visited the Camajuaní organoponic farm, a place once characterized by great beauty and which today no longer boasts the same conditions, mainly due to problems with irrigation.
Another item on the president’s agenda was a tour of the Álamo Packing Plant, which belongs to the Villa Clara Meat Company. After a favorable 2023, they are currently stopped due to lack of raw materials.
To be more proactive and materialize productive chains, urged the leaders during a meeting with workers of the entity.
