On his X account, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez stressed that the relations of friendship, cooperation and mutual support between Cuba and the DPRK are historical and invariable, based on the legacy of the fraternal relationship between the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the great comrade leader, Kim II Sung.
Kim Jong Il was born on February 16, 1941, a date consecrated as Day of the Light Star in recognition of his enormous contributions to the independence of the DPRK and the construction of socialism in North Korea.
Cuba and the DPRK maintain close reciprocal cooperation and agree on international issues, including Pyongyang’s condemnation of the United States blockade against Cuba for more than six decades, while Havana advocates peace on the Korean peninsula.
