Argentine Government is blamed for Wage Council’s failure

Buenos Aires, Feb 16 (Prensa Latina) The leader of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) Héctor Daer accused the Argentine government and business people of the failure of negotiations on the Minimum, Vital and Mobile Wage Council.

In declarations to Radio 10, Daer pointed out that this is an unprecedented rupture among the actors of this space and assured that the CGT will take the necessary measures.

I consider it really shameful to have made a parody of a legitimate instrument of democracy. It was one more step to break the country’s institutionality, he added after pointing out that an instance of dialogue was damaged.

The day before, after more than four hours of meeting, representatives of the Executive, business chambers and union groups did not reach an agreement on a salary increase and the minimum and maximum amounts of unemployment benefits.

“Now the Government will resolve the increase by decree, which will be in line with the adjustment it intends to make on retirees, social plans and workers”, Daer indicated.

However, Milei ruled out the possibility of signing such a document and pointed out that there are no plans to call a meeting of the national teachers’ union (negotiations to agree on labor improvements).

“They want to materialize a collective impoverishment, that we all work for a plate of rice, in order to, in that way, enter into the framework of competitiveness for the transfer of those who have the least to those who have the most”, Daer commented.

Likewise, he assured that, with these policies, the scenario will become unsustainable for the people.

The Government must reflect, he said.
