According to the agency, the Progress MS-26 cargo ship was placed in an artificial satellite orbit of the Earth.
The spacecraft, carrying about 2.5 tons of cargo, is due to dock with the ISS at 06:12 local Moscow time next Saturday and will remain in orbit for 180 days.
The cargo ship is carrying nearly 1.5 tons of equipment, materials for scientific experiments, food, hygiene items, medicines and clothing for station crew members, plus 580 kilograms of fuel, 420 kilograms of drinking water and 40 kilograms of nitrogen.
The cargo includes in particular materials for the production of fullerite, a crystalline form of carbon that represents a new class of semiconductors, and equipment for the development of a new system for monitoring fissures and other depressurizations on the ISS, Roscosmos said.
