President of Guatemala to travel to Europe on his first tour

Guatemala City, February 15 (Prensa Latina) The president of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, will travel to Europe on his first tour as ruler, with high-level meetings planned in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France and Spain.

The agenda was announced by the president himself and will begin on Friday afternoon in the city of Munich, capital of Bavaria, Germany, where he will speak on corruption issues at the Security Conference. In this context, he will hold meetings with other heads of state.

After that, he will travel to Brussels, where he will sign a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of a bilateral consultation mechanism with the European Union.

Arévalo will meet with the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, the President of the EU Council, Charles Michel, and a senior authority of the European Parliament.

Next Wednesday he will travel to Geneva, Switzerland, and will hold meetings with representatives of the United Nations and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The president will visit his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, next Thursday, and during his stay in Paris he will hold talks with the authorities of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Afterwards he will visit Spain to fulfill an invitation made to him by King Felipe VI and participate in a meeting with the World Tourism Organization and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations on the 23rd, to promote investment and trade between both nations.
