Despite statements from the New Ideas (NI) and National Concertation (PCN) parties claiming victories in the counted departments, there is still no official result of how Salvadorans casted their votes to integrate the unicameral Parliament.
The nearest to unfold the official result was stated by the Magistrate Guillermo Wellman, who advanced a possible date: “You will have the results of the Legislative Assembly at the end of the week and we must move the country forward and you, the media, are a good leg of this table called El Salvador,” he said.
However, already on Thursday NI claims 26 legislators, even leaving out Marleni Funes (FMLN) in Usulutan and Silvia Ostorga (Arena) in Sonsonate, two opposition lawmakers with good numbers to be elected again.
The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) has already finished the definitive scrutiny of the ballots of 3,857 packages corresponding to 10 departments, an advance of 45.04%, Wellman informed on Thursday.
Until 12:27 a.m. early morning of this February 15, the TSE reported on X social media the completion of the legislative scrutiny of eight departments: Cabañas, San Vicente, Morazan, Cuscatlan, Chalatenango, La Union, La Paz and Sonsonate; in addition to the departments of Ahuachapan and Usulutan.
As of that hour, the departments of San Miguel, which has 677 packages, Santa Ana (790), La Libertad (1,023) and San Salvador (2,215) were still to be counted up.
