Cuba shows extensive results at the UAE Government Summit

Dubai, Feb 15 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban delegation that participated in the World Summit of Governments had the opportunity to incorporate know-how tools and good practices into development planning and the design of public policies.

During the meeting, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero highlighted that in the face of the great challenges facing humanity, it is urgent to promote the visionary leadership of governments and international collaboration.

The head of the Management of Attention to Local Administrations of Popular Power in the Council of Ministers of Cuba, Nancy Acosta, highlighted the importance of the Summit. “These are essential issues to consider because Cuba has approved a National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030, which contains the Vision of the Nation, Strategic Axes and Sectors, as well as development strategies at the local, municipal, and provincial levels,” she said.

Acosta explained that the Cuban participants learned tools to build a group of support networks to enable the Executive, in a faster manner, to have the leadership that corresponds to it at that level, providing the services that citizens need.

The Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Armando Rodríguez, highlighted the benefits that new technologies provide for a more efficient Government. He also stressed that this type of Summit brings in not only government representatives but also other social and economic actors, which is consistent with building governance based on science, technology, and innovation, with the participation of all stakeholders.

The World Government Summit also allowed Cuba to maintain important bilateral contacts, both with the authorities of the Emirates and with high-level delegations from other countries.

The director of Africa and the Middle East for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Alexander Pellicer, highlighted the exchanges of the prime minister with several heads of State and Government, which contributed to ratifying Cuba’s will to continue strengthening ties and exploring new possibilities for cooperation.

Cuba and the UAE signed a memorandum of understanding, developing joint efforts to promote institutional capacities and improve government work.
