After the recently held International Symposium on Challenges in the Administration and Management of Cities, Prensa Latina had the opportunity to exchange with Martha Latapí, consultant of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Mexico, who gave a brief overview of the potential of the city.
“Each city has its proper heritage and Camagüey has a great cultural one. People are aware that they have their heritage and that they have to take care of it and that they love it,” she said after walking the streets of a town that recently celebrated its 510th anniversary.
For the specialist, who shared a tourist catalog developed with the experiences of her nation, “Through this heritage, tourism can also help to preserve it using simple tools, for example, a gastronomic experience” she expressed.
Every socio-cultural detail is highly valued by UNESCO’s representatives and scholars, aware of the importance of a whole complex made up with the work and feelings of the people of a locality, regardless of any artistic expression.
