Speaking at the 2nd International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Leftist Parties and Movements, Díaz-Canel stressed the importance of the New Operation Truth forum organized by the Latin American News Agency, Prensa Latina, in January.
The meeting aimed to recall, on its 65th anniversary, the initiative by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, to rebuff the campaign of slander launched against the emerging Cuban Revolution.
During the “New Operation Truth” forum, which gathered communication ministers, intellectuals, and journalists from some 30 nations in Havana, Prensa Latina committed itself to establishing a media articulation in defense of the nations in the Global South.
According to the Cuban president, the meeting allowed to carry out a comprehensive reflection on the enormous validity of the response led by Fidel Castro at that time, the current challenges, and the need for unity among leftist forces to defend the revolutionary cause.
In the era of social media, the intensity of media debate, and cultural colonization, we have to find in practice the path of Operation Truth, to be shared by the leftish forces, the revolutionary forces at an international level, the head of State pointed out.
Díaz-Canel called on to develop a worldwide movement forwarded to a new Operation Truth, taking advantage of the diversity and integrality of the leftist forces: political parties, political publishing houses, and social and community movements attending this international conference.
