With the theme Made In The Caribbean, the competition invites young fashion designers to submit a mini-collection that showcases the Caribbean identity and cultural diversity of the region.
The call is aimed at fashion designers between the ages of 18 and 35, nationals and permanent residents of one of the 17 beneficiary countries of Transcultura.
They are Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Entries can be submitted in three categories: Fashion Design, Accessories and Jewelry, and finalists will exhibit their work at the Fashion in a House event, to be held at Unesco’s Regional Office in Havana in May, 2024.
The program will fully cover the cost of the finalists’ participation in the exhibition and the awards ceremony in the Cuban capital, where the best work in each category will receive the Transcultura Award and the Audience Award will be announced.
The jury may award special prizes to promote and recognize works with an environmentally friendly projection.
The call for entries is open until the 29th, and applicants can consult the terms and conditions at the following link: https://rb.gy/lvl8o0
