The diplomat made statements this Tuesday to the Sputnik news agency describing the agreement as “fundamental”, and noted that “it may determine the interaction between Russia and Iran for the coming years or even decades.”
According to Dedov, the agreement is practically ready, but he refused to venture a date for its signing, although he assumed that it will be “in the foreseeable future.”
Commenting on economic cooperation between the two countries, the diplomat highlighted that Russia revalidated its status as the most important investor in Iran in 2023.
“Russian companies in the energy sector are successfully working on the Iranian market. Last year, Russia once again took first place in terms of foreign investment in Iran. This is a graphic example of the real level of our relations,” Dedov said.
