Cuban prime minister mets with his UAE counterpart

Dubai, Feb 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero met with Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prime minister and vice president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in the framework of the World Governments Summit.

During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their interest in strengthening bilateral relations, as well as raising economic, commercial, financial and cooperation ties to the same level as political ones.

They also highlighted the consolidation of relations between the two countries, following the visits of President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas to the UAE, where several agreements were updated and signed.

According to the Cuban Government’s X account, the prime ministers agreed on the importance of signing new documents to continue to strengthen relations between the two countries.

After the official talks, a Memorandum of Understanding was inked between Cuba and the UAE to exchange experiences in development and government modernization, setting the guidelines for stronger ties between the two nation’s executive bodies.

Marrero also met on Tuesday with UAE Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, and the head of the Office of International Affairs at the Presidential Court, Mariam Almheiri.

Within the framework of the summit, the Cuban head of Government also met with the president of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange; the administrator of the United Nations Development Program, Achim Steiner, and the general director of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi.

Cuban Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Norberto Escalona announced a joint initiative with Brazil and the UAE to enhance collaboration on food security.

The tripartite cooperation project aims to deliver food aid worth 50 million dollars to be sent from Brazil.
