Industrial Dynamics, one of the main suppliers, explained that the clashes between armed groups in the area of La Saline are the cause of the shortage.

There is currently a large shipment of oxygen in customs with duties paid, but it was impossible for the company to get it out, since La Saline is totally under the control of criminal gangs. The company’s management requested the protective intervention of the Haitian National Police to guard the convoy to transport the oxygen to the warehouse, from where it will then be distributed to healthcare centers, according to the Haiti Libre newspaper.

Recently, the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights reported that the criminal activity of armed gangs is increasing in intensity.
