At a press conference held at the headquarters of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Zimbabwean Finance Minister Marulanda Ncube said that the meeting -scheduled for February 28 to March 5- is a platform to tackle financing and other issues looking at African openings and policies.

“Basically, this is a place where the mountain will be able to showcase its natural resources which are pivotal to support our discussion on financing the transition to green economies, looking at Africa, looking at openings and policies or any other options,” Ncube specified.

Ncube mentioned the holding of very critical side events that will also deal with climate violence, technology and challenges the continent is presently facing up.

In his view, trying to embrace change or redesign the international financial architecture is critical. We also realize that the G-20 will have to face over the next two years to see how we can redesign the international financial system, Ncube stressed.

For the Harare Finance Minister, Africa needs to make its own contribution to this debate and the right contribution will be at this conference that will allow it to put forward its ideas to inform this agenda.
