The new deceased, driver Nelson Vera, was reported to be in serious condition due to 80% burns among the 14 injured who remain in intensive care after the, due to an ammonia leak that also caused the death of worker Gustavo Notario, HOY newspaper added.

“We continue to work for the lives of the workers of the Ocshi company who are hospitalized,” the Social Security Institute (IPS) said in a statement about the explosion on February 7 at the San Lorenzo factory.

The doctors initially reported in serious condition nine of the 37 injured by the incident in the aforementioned city of the Central Department, bordering this capital, and considered three of them “in delicate condition” and under observation, while 17 others were discharged.

The company’s management declared its willingness to collaborate with the investigations, regretted the deaths of both workers, and assured that it would assist all those affected by the company, which groups some 620 employees.

The text ratifies the joint decision on the temporary closure of the industry, taken by the IPS, the Ministries of Labor and Environment, and the National Service of Animal Quality and Health.
