Argentine President Javier Milei describes opponents as criminals

Buenos Aires, Feb 10 (Prensa Latina) President Javier Milei on Saturday described the opponents to the bill known as Bases and Points of Departure Law for the Freedom of Argentinians as criminals, in an interview with Radio Mitre.

In statements from Italy to that radio station, the president again lashed out against legislators and governors who did not support the initiative, which included the delegation of legislative powers to the Executive, the declaration of a period of emergency and the privatization of public companies, among many other provisions.

The legislation was rejected by members of social and trade union organizations who held riots around the Congress and were repressed by the security forces.

In the interview, Milei assured that he will not negotiate his economic program, and pointed out that his opponents are “the filth of politics.”

The head of State confirmed that the Libertad Avanza party is working on a broader agreement with Propuesta Republicana within the national Government, referring to the possible incorporation of more members from that force, who would join those already integrated such as Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich and Minister of Defense Luis Petri.

Milei acknowledged that he maintains a fluid dialogue with former President Mauricio Macri, while media outlets such as Pagina 12 warned about Macri’s intentions to manage important areas of the Government through the positioning of allies.
