The information disclosed by the Secretary of the Presidency stated that in January nearly 351 thousand international visitors arrived in the country, a figure that represents an increase of 35 percent with respect to the same period of the year 2023, where record figures were set.
According to government data, 7 out of every 10 visitors settled in the country, while 29 percent were day-trippers.
The United States remained with 43 percent as the main source of visitors who spent an average of 1,096 dollars, followed by 20 percent from Guatemala and 15 percent from Honduras.
The projections of the leisure industry sector indicate that this year the country should reach four million visitors, a number 12 percent higher than the previous year’s record in revenue and amount of tourists.
