Henry will be Haiti’s Prime Minister until the next elections

Port-au-Prince, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry made it clear that he will remain in office until elections are held in the Caribbean country, where today his opponents are still clinging to the idea of his resignation.

The main task of a transitional government is to create favorable conditions for the holding of elections, so that the people can choose their leaders.

A transitional government cannot replace another of that kind, Henry stressed in an address to the nation.

“Two transitional governments cannot succeed each other” Henry stressed in his only 10 minutes long speech.

The Haitian Prime Minister reiterated his willingness to pursue talks to reconcile all citizens who are in favor of progress.

“All those who take the path of violence and assassination to achieve power instead of elections are defending their own interests and not those of the people”, Henry sentenced.

The political agreement of National Consensus for an Inclusive Transition and Transparent Elections, which stipulates that Henry would remain prime minister until February 7, 2024, was signed under the auspices of the international community.
