The judicial institution detailed that so far there are no detainees, although the search for those responsible for the incident that took Carnero’s life on Thursday continues.

The young civil servant had been shot several times when she was on a street of her municipality taking photos and videos on the state of the roads.

“Diana was 29 years old. This is a nightmare. A hug to her family and to all of Naranjal. When you have children of that age, you understand what their parents must be suffering. They mowed down the life of a promise for Naranjal and the homeland,” former President and leader of the CR Rafael Correa posted on X.

Likewise, the CR’s head Luisa Gonzalez condemned the crime, and expressed her solidarity with the family of the councilwoman, whom she described as “a brave woman committed to her people.”

Fiscalía inicia investigación por asesinato de concejal en Ecuador

Quito, 8 feb (Prensa Latina) La Fiscalía General de Ecuador inició hoy una investigación por el asesinato de la concejal de la localidad Naranjal, provincia de Guayas, Diana Carnero, quien era miembro del movimiento Revolución Ciudadana (RC).

La institución judicial detalló que hasta el momento no existen detenidos, aunque continúa la búsqueda de los responsables del suceso que cobró la vida de Carnero este jueves.

La joven funcionaria recibió varios impactos de bala cuando se encontraba en una calle de su municipio haciendo fotos y videos sobre el estado de las vías.

Diana tenía 29 años. Esto es una pesadilla. Un abrazo a su familia y a todo Naranjal. Cuando uno tiene hijos de esa edad, entiende lo que deben estar sufriendo sus padres. Segaron la vida de una promesa para Naranjal y la Patria, publicó en su red social X el expresidente Rafael Correa, líder de la RC.

De igual forma, la presidenta de la RC, Luisa González, condenó el crimen y expresó su solidaridad con la familia de la concejal, a quien llamó “mujer valiente y comprometida con su pueblo”.
