The launch will be led by the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Martin Griffiths, and the High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, amid the growing needs of the Sudanese population after more than nine months of war.
According to UN figures, nearly 25 million people require humanitarian aid and protection while the country remains at the stage of the worst displaced persons crisis on the planet.
The current round of hostilities alone forced over 1.5 million people to flee across borders to countries already hosting large refugee populations.
Therefore, the Regional Refugee Response Plan seeks to support almost 2.7 million people in five neighboring countries: the Central African Republic, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia and South Sudan.
