Palestine condemns Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank

Ramallah, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) Palestine condemned on Wednesday the beginning of the construction of 167 homes in the Israeli settlement of Tzufim, in the northern West Bank region, a fact that it considered a disregard to the position of the international community on these localities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration denounced in a statement that the Israeli settlement in the West Bank is an attempt to sabotage efforts to establish a Palestinian State.

It also criticized the attacks and violations committed by Israeli security forces and settlers against the Palestinian civilians in those areas, besides the destruction of property and forced displacement of people.

The Foreign Ministry called on the world to acknowledge an independent Palestinian State and support its admission as a full member of the United Nations.

According to official sources, more than 700,000 Israeli settlers are living illegally in more than 270 settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
